RICH BURNS INCENERATES 33-YEAR-OLD WORLD RECORD!
 
 Competing with some of the best masters milers in America, Rich Burns took fifth at the Portland Track Festival at Lewis and Clark College.But, 5th is no shame when you smash a world record!  According to the results posted by event coordinator Dave Clingan, Rich ran 4:36.94 to beat one of the oldest records on the books of 4:40.4 by Australia's Jack Ryan in 1977.  He also beat the listed American M55 record of 4:42.7 by Nolan Shaheed.  Congrats to Rich Burns!!!

Congragts ot Team Runners High mebers Dale Campbell and Rich Burns who set two new American Track Records in the men's (55) at teh Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific Universtity.  Dale rant eh Men's 3000 M Steeple Chase in a record time of 10:39.56 shattering the former record of 10:59.2 set by Ken Carmer in 1984!  Rich Burns ran the Men's 5000M in a arecord time of 16:21.1 beating the former record of 16:27.1 set by Jamees O'Neil.

Rich Burns sets an American Record!

 
Congratulations to Rich Burns who set an American Men's 55 year  old Record for 3000 meters on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010.  Rich ran a 9:21.83 at an All-Comers meet in Claremont Ca. to claim a new American Record for men 55 - 59.  Running on a cool, sunny day at Pomona-Pitzer College, Burns used even pacing to shatter the old age group record of 9:37.88, set by Ray Hatton in 1988.  
 
"I ran really even splits," said Burns.  "The first (400) was 73.  After that, I slowed down a little.  I stayed cautious.  I thought I'd be safer running a 5:04 (for the first 1600) but came throught right around 5 flat.  I tried to pick it up over the last three laps - meaning I stayed the same pace.  I was 8:45 at 7 laps, but ran pretty slow last 200, about 37 ish".
